E-5324 is used in life science research as a potent ACAT inhibitor. It has IC50 44-190 nM (ACAT), inhibits [³H]oleate and [³H]cholesteryl ester synthesis (IC50 0.44 and 0.41 μM), and in vivo reduces aortic cholesterol and ACAT activity.
