3α-Aminocholestane is used in life sciences. It is a selective SH2 domain-containing inositol-5'-phosphatase 1 (SHIP1) inhibitor with an IC50 of ~2.5 μM. In vitro, it reduces OPM2 cell viability, blocks cell cycle progression (S phase reduction, G2/M or G0/G1 phase increase), and in vivo, it reduces multiple myeloma growth, circulating OPM2 cells, and enhances mouse survival after tumor challenge.
