CGP 20712 A (CGP 20712 mesylate) is a high-selectivity β1-adrenoceptor antagonist, IC50 0.7 nM for β1-adrenoceptor, 10,000-fold selectivity over β2-adrenoceptors. In vitro: antagonizes β1-adrenoceptors in myocytes, preventing β2-adrenoceptor-mediated adenylate cyclase activation at 10-1000 nM. In vivo: 5 mg/kg pretreatment in 8-day-old rats does not affect plasma ACTH response to insulin injection.
